  • I can’t recall ever seeing a movie with him in it,  but I like his poppy seed salad dressing.

Some day you will see him in something, and you will see why I think he is just extraordinary.  And hot as hell.  Integrity is very sexy to me.

I liked "Torn Curtain" and "The Towering Inferno," in particular.

I've always enjoyed his performances in anything I've seen.

    :)

I know "The Sting" more for Marvin Hamlisch's using Scott Joplin music for the score. I listened to the music soundtrack more than knowing the movie. I think I saw the movie only once.

I haven't seen that one and I think I would probably like it. I know it's a classic and I always like Newman in any movie.

Welby, you picked two off the wall choices that are FANTASTIC. Now see the ones everyone else has seen.  He is amazing in everything he has ever done, I think.  Methinks.

That's a good one.  I also like Cool Hand Luke, Absence of Malice, Long Hot Summer, Towering Inferno, and Exodus.  Oh yeah, I almost forgot The Verdict.   This post was edited by Thriftymaid at October 21, 2019 9:04 AM MDT

Paul Newman makes tears well up in my throat, I love him so much.  He was a rare example of a perfect man.  OF COURSE he was not perfect, but he was elegant and kind and humane and still performed his heart out so well, it looked like he was playing himself.  His acting was seamless and I will say all of his movies are my favorite.

YES. TO PAUL.  ALL OF THEM.  What a gorgeous soul that shone through a gorgeous man.

THAT'S the one!!!!!! I knew these was a particular movie of his, that I hadn't seen. that was calling me. I know I would win no matter which one I chose to watch but that was the one that stuck in my head but it didn't click until I saw your answer.

But, like others have answered -- and you suggested, and answered, too - - I would do well to go watch much more of his stuff.

    Thanks.
    :)

got to run off again -- I'll try to, at another time, respond to other kind comments you gave me.

The only one I know of is Cool Hand Luke.  We watched it in high school.  There is a speech in it that everyone knew by heart.
(What we've got here is failure to communicate
Some men, you just can't reach
So, you get what we had here, last week
Which is the way he wants it
    Well, he gets it

    *Whistling*
And I don't like it any more than you men)

The teacher finally asked why?  Since we had not seen the movie. It was used in the beginning of the song "Civil War"  by Guns N Roses.
