Too vague to make a decision.  What is "it"?  Need more details.

I took a burned out light bulb to the repair shop to have the filament replaced,  cost me $35.00. Would have only cost about two bucks to buy a new light bulb.

So now I know it is always better to buy new instead of getting something repaired.

If the repair costs more than a new one, replace it. If my monitor dies, it most likely can't be repaired and it is out of warranty. I'll just get a new one.

If it's a can opener, replace it.  If it's a 400 year old diamond tiara, fix it.
