Yesterday I read in the local paper about how a bunch of people got together and raised some funds for a sick little boy whose family couldn't afford the medical bills... I thought that was nice. Sometimes the sheer volume of depressing news getting reported makes you lose hope but then little things like this pop up.
Probably the best news is what you don't hear because it's so common that it's not newsworthy.
Most babies were born healthy and welcomed by their families.
Most travellers by car did not have an accident.
Scientists are continually developing a more accurate understanding of what contributes to good health.
Technology enables us to reach out to strangers and share friendly conversations.
The more you think about it, the list is almost infinite.
I discovered that I got my period today. It's good news because I've had body aches and tummy aches this past week.
I finished my project !!!
The dry weeds in one of my neighbor's back yards caught fire recently. Other neighbors flocked and were able to keep it contained until the fire crews arrived. If they hadn't acted quickly, at least two families would have lost their homes.
Nothing like country people for helping each other in a crisis. It's a wonderful feeling discovering that even strangers will do everything possible to help.
Good news abounds in the bible about the near future. Sad that most decide not to believe and mock it's contents.
You brought up such a great point here. When you spread news that is inspirational, that energy travels and causes positive reactions. It makes others want to also contribute something good, unless they are people that are in so much mental agony that they cannot relate to joy. Those are the people who need our help the most. Not always possible to change them, but reacting with violence and anger is just putting gasoline on a fire instead of maybe some calm water.
So, I learned that just putting one foot in front of the other is far better than giving up even when you feel like the world is closing in on you. That is general and vague, but it fits my mood right at present. I do mean it at least.
No one is mocking its contents, Autumn. Never think that. What we mock is people shoving their idea of what those contents mean in our faces. We can read and we don't need someone who knows less than we do to interpret what they think it may mean. OKAY?
The funny thing is, I'm in a big city, but am from a small town. There are huge differences in the way people act and treat each other. This kind of behavior is really refreshing here. People have no clue what happens outside their four walls, especially now that it's well over 100 degrees outside. We lock ourselves indoors and shut the drapes.
You just made my point.
