    He had a good chance.  Some of his original proposals were sound and would have proven quite beneficial to the country (we needed to get out of the rut of same-'ol same-'ol).  Unfortunately, his narcissism, his love for money, his lust for power, along with his sheer stupidity (no clue as to whats going on around him) sank him long before he even got started.

    Trump is  a narcissist. Most politicians are to some degree, but Trump is a clear-cut case.

    While most politicians want to see "good things" happen...so long as they get at least some of the credit, Trump does not 
    have any sort of underlying principles or moral framework by which he defines "good things"...except insofar as they
    bring him credit, attention, money, p***ies to grab, and the like.

    When Trump threw his hat into the Presidential race, I don't think he seriously believed he could win. I think his main goal
    was to generate publicity for himself, and create opportunities in media to generate huge money being an outside critic
    of the Hillary Clinton administration.

    However, the Electoral College broke as it did, and the USA is stuck with a President whose only real motivation
    in governance is "what's in it for me?"

    I guess if we the people didn't have bad luck we'd have no luck. Even though and even so it was prescient but who was paying attention way back then? Who took him seriously? He sure as he** didn't! Thank you for your thoughtful analysis SP. After the debacle and humiliation at the NATO meeting he is gonna smack back and double down. This ought ta be a blast.
