Timothy by the Buoys  it was about trapped miners who cannibalized Timothy. The year that song came out I was planning on moving to Manitoba to get a job in the mine so it almost made me not go. Cheers!

Purple people eater came out when I was 7.  And that was the taste of most adults back then.  The taste of a seven-year-old. I loved it.

Who wears short shorts? Skinny Purple People Eater.

Thank the GODDESS for Gloria Steinem.

    Lesley Gore Lyrics

    "Judy's Turn To Cry"

'Cause now it's Judy's turn to cry
    Judy's turn to cry
    Judy's turn to cry
    'Cause Johnny's come back
    To me

Aw, when Judy left with Johnny at my party (my party)
And came back wearing his ring
I sat down and cried my eyes out
Now that was a foolish thing

'Cause now it's Judy's turn to cry
    Judy's turn to cry
    Judy's turn to cry
    'Cause Johnny's come back
    To me

Well it hurt me so to see them dance together
I felt like making a scene
Then my tears just felt like rain drops
'Cause Judy's smile was so mean

But now it's Judy's turn to cry
    Judy's turn to cry
    Judy's turn to cry
    'Cause Johnny's come back
    To me

Oh one night I saw them kissing at a party
So I kissed some other guy
Johnny jumped up and he hit him
'Cause he still loved me that's why

So now it's Judy's turn to cry
    Judy's turn to cry
    Judy's turn to cry
    'Cause Johnny's come back
    To me

So now it's Judy's turn to cry
    Judy's turn to cry
    Judy's turn to cry
    'Cause Johnny's come back

We have a radio station run by high schoolers that plays that kind of music. It's really great. They play a lot of great oldies that our generation appreciates.

Seriously...I was just thinking of that one. Great (or feeble) minds. I actually kinda like it. Good comedy act...Aussie, of course. This post was edited by Element 99 at December 27, 2019 7:08 PM MST

It isn't cute now, but it might have been back when you were a kid.

Cute or not, the song was used to illustrate an important linguistic principle...
