Cosmologist - a scientist who specialises in a branch of astronomy which studies the large scale properties of the universe as a whole. etymology from Kosmos - ancient Greek for order or world
Cosmetologist - a person licensed to provide cosmetic treatments to the hair, skin, and nails : one trained in cosmetology: beautician. etymology from early 17th century (as a noun denoting the art of beautifying the body): from French cosmétique, from Greek kosmÄ“tikos, from kosmein ‘arrange or adorn’, from kosmos ‘order or adornment’.
The link between the two is linguistic - both deriving from Kosmos or order.
We find order in the way the universe is structured. We apply a certain sense of order to the way we groom and present ourselves - and for some this may include hair removal, make-up etc.
Well it seems to me, just as we ask how big the universe can get before it collapses again upon itself, the same can be questioned of how high one can tease ones hair before a similar event occurs.
