The east coast is burning, here in Adelaide we have the heat wave. 44C today (that's 111F in the archaic scale America still insists on using), it's going to be 46C/115F tomorrow.

Oh geez R I'm so sorry. That's horrible! It popped out as I was Googling the news. One day maybe you can tell me why in the he** we use a different measurement structure than the rest of the world. Anyway our thoughts are with you and I do hope your electricity stays ON. You know here in California the dumba** PG&E turned off electricity for up to 5 days in northern California? Some folks adore the heat. Not from fires of course. Our daughter-in-law (her husband our son David passed away in May) lived in Oregon for years and has lived in Arizona for the last 5 and LOVES THE EXTREME HEAT. Thank you for your reply and hang in there. Happy Thursday! :) This post was edited by RosieG at December 19, 2019 2:10 AM MST

So sorry for your loss. No parent should have to lose a child that way - you always expect your kids to outlive you.

The only thing I was able to find out about the US stubbornly clinging to the old system is this:

Thank you for the link R and I will click on it after I post this. I just wonder who was the first introducer and who decided which method to employ? Probably the answer will be found in your link which I'll read next. Thank you for your condolences. Very true. SIGH. We know we aren't the only parents who experienced that. It just seems like it. Thank you for reply and the link m'dear. Appreciate it! Happy Friday/Saturday!

I understand fahrenheit far easier then centigrade ....72 is a nice temp ture to go out in ,when people take in centigrade  it sound just like gibberish to me....
Same with Lbs and kilo. And worse with kilomitor and  miles...
