Two common stereotypes about women (with some supporting evidence) are:

1) They are attracted to men of high social status

2) They are attracted to "bad boys" (i.e. men who generate excitement and drama)


I wonder, given the limited number of high status men available and how much more...um, exciting life used to be for most people (war, famines, disease, etc.) if women being attracted to "exciting" men was necessary for survival of the species.

If only high status men had offspring, the pool of genetic diversity would have rapidly narrowed, and local social groups would have been at substantial risk of being wiped out.

I don't know how one would test this hypothesis, but I think it's an interesting speculation.

And here I just thought I had daddy issues or something and have been rebelling for years. maybe I’ll start going for those high status stuff suits for a change... nah I won’t lol :)

And some end up stressed-out drugged-out workaholics who get their sexual jollies away from home because they never are home.


Perhaps the old joke is The Truth:

A woman needs a man who is attractive and a good lover

A woman needs a man who is a hard worker and a good provider

A woman needs a man who is kind, attentive, and a good father to their children

And a woman needs to make sure than none of these men ever find out about the other two....
