Some of the main playlists I have preset on the music app I listen to are the 1980s, 1970s, and 1960s, in that order of

preference. I listen to many others, such as Motown, classic R&B, Top 40 oldies, easy listening oldies, classic rock, jazz, etc., but the three above are my primaries.
Recently, for a change of pace and to see if I was missing out on some good music, I selected 1990s. What a wasteland!  I think I enjoyed only one in ten songs offered there over the day’s time I listened!  Of course, I readily admit that I’m hopelessly stuck in the 1980s, and I’m not ashamed of it at all, not in the least bit.

Q: What are some of your fave genres of music?

I don't really know if I have a favorite music genre. I tend to discover music I love in all genres.
But, in general (is that related to "genre"?), I'd say one of yours you listed may be one for me: Easy Listening Oldies.

    Unsure, though.

My parents had a lots of all kinds of music in the house, including Percy Faith and His Orchestra, Mantovani, Ray Conniff Singers. I loved it all growing up. I still do, I guess.

This one takes me away like it always did :)
(And I've never seen the movie, either the original or the remakes)

Based on finding only one video with Percy Faith and His Orchestra (the only artists I equate with the song) playing an instrumental-only version of it ("live," even), I think the version that was a big hit had a female vocalist in it. I prefer the instrumental-only version. :)

    "Theme from 'Moulin Rouge' "

    I don't have playlists.

I just think of a song I want to hear and I find it on youtube.  I am old school.

    No lists.

I’m not asking whether or not you have playlists, the question is about the music that you like. It’s possible to enjoy music without necessarily having playlists.

I was just saying that I didn't have a playlist. I wasn't addressing your question there, just replying to Sharonna's statement about playlists.

    Cool.
    :)

Hey, if you get a chance, what is Easy Listening to you? I ask because I've heard what seems to me to a be a wide variety of music classified as Easy Listening. I guess I've never researched it enough  to know if there are set qualities that define the Easy Listening genre.
But whatever they are, I surely enjoy Percy Faith and His Orchestra and Ray Conniff Singers.
    :)

  • 80s a few winners but was also a factory for the worst and cheesiest music ever.  Van Halen, Def Leopard,  Flock of Seagulls, Bon-jovi, Poison, The Cure

Everything from classical to Bluegrass, with the exception of hip-hop and rap, which aren't really music. 60' and 70's mostly.

It's hard to find radio stations that play the 60s now.  Fairlieigh Dickinson University does play them on occasion as well as 60s, 70s and 80s.  I only listen in the morning while I'm getting ready for work, but I understand that they play all genres of music during the day and into the evening.  My radio stations play 70s and 80s mostly. We have a local high school that has a radio station that only plays 50s 1nd 60s. No advertisements. It is part of their communications curriculum. I listen to it about 90% of the time.

If you listen to WFDU, that's the station I'm talking about.  I love it.

No wonder I couldn't find it!  If it only goes 8 miles, I'm still out of luck, but thanks.
