For me, it's sauerkraut. Well, at least for now. I gag at the smell.
What's it for you?
Did I tell you I'm writing a Diet book?
I'm going to called "Yak your way to Health: Making the best out of Bulemia"
Liver is vile as hell
That thing looks obscene.
That pretty nasty
There are a few: Tapioca pudding, monkey brains, macaroni cheese, escargot, jellied eels, sheep's eyeballs, live grubs, ortolan, whale-meat - others may come to mind later. Then there are others still, ones just too horrible to contemplate.
Unfortunately the list of dishes I would gladly partake of if they were still available, or someone that I know, knew how to prepare them, is equally long.
Wait...you had me completely on your side until you mentioned macaroni and cheese! No kidding. I don't mean to poke fun, but it's an unexpected choice.
I did meet someone that hated cheese in general and a piece of pizza would have made him gag.
As for all your other choices? Yup. They get the big gag!
Oysters, sushi, snails, frogs legs, brains...
I'm with you. Love crab legs, it that soft shell blue crab smells and taste like sweetened rotten garbage.
Without getting into the weird and unusual.....
Cucumbers and any kind of squash. Smells like swamp water and the taste is atrocious.
Liver is delicious.
It's yours. You can have all ours. Hahahaha
Yeh...I will pass on all those.
Can't get enough of it to be honest. Especially deer liver.
Not a huge fan of either and they sure don't like me.
Most people love cucumbers. I think they are vile. In fact I can't even eat any of the dip on a veggie tray once someone taints it with cucumber. They have such a strong taste they just have to touch something and the whole bowl taste like nothing but cucumbers.
Tzatziki sauce on a gyro is the only exception to this rule. Still I prefer Just plain yogurt.
I have cooked liver for the dogs, and to be honest it smells amazing...just never could bring myself to try it.
I know my mother loved it and yes, it certainly doesn't have a bad odor to it.
The only way I will eat cucumber is if it's very thinly sliced and in a salad. I cannot eat much and the texture bothers me if I bite into a larger chunk.
GoatJumper, I have eaten this dish very infrequently. Believe it or not I was served it once in a works cafeteria at Hogmanay and it was damned good. Probably non-standard ingredients though, because the taste has never been matched by any subsequent haggis meal.
When there was a bread strike someone among the kitchen staff at that company knew how to make proper bread too, rather than the usual scone-like poor man's bread substitute you usually get under such circumstances.
One dish on my favored plus list is Galantine. Probably not one cook in 10,000 knows how to make it nowadays and would not be bothered to even if they could. No, the real cooks are all long dead. Fortunately I have the recipe in the much sought after, out of print, 'Mrs Mott's Favourite Recipes' cookery book. I have yet to persuade my good lady to have a go at making it though.
Sushi is good and not all sushi is raw, Sashimi is the raw type. It took me years to eat it, once I got into high school, I couldn't get enough. You can get most Sushi made Tempura style depending on the restaurant, which is very good.
