Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» Headline today. "TRUMP ACQUITTAL IS NOW LIKELY". BULLSH**! It was always a sure thing. Why not admit the FIX WAS ALWAYS IN?
Because impeachments are a rare thing, the nuts and bolts of it were somewhat more interesting than the Brett Kavanaugh nomination hearing, but they were both examples of political Kabuki theater.

You are probably correct. GOP establishment hates Trump but have no choice but to publically support him because their constituents support him.

I do not know of one single Trump voter who thinks he should have been impeached much less removed. I guarantee if the electorate in their individual state changed that much they would know. The people would have let them know. I contacted mine. And let them know exactly where I stand. And mine were not even mentioned to be on the fence. (Hawley and Blunt) When I returned home in IL, I seen more Trump hats than I had ever seen in the last 4 yrs.
I do believe Dems have increased in wanting removal.
Polls...Trumps approval poll is 44% this is pretty much where he stands constantly perhaps even a point or two higher. If the electorate changed that to over half then his approval should have went down. Just shows Dems moved to remove. Not the general electorate.

Of course not. But I know plenty. I live and come from Trump country.
Again going back to the polls. Trump's approval cannot remain steady or increase and removal increase unless the change to removal is on the side of those who already disapprove.
Sorry. Trumps polls have remained steady to an increase (currently 44.6%) then the increase in people wanting removal had to be people who already did not support Trump. Which we would expect to be in Blue states. So a red state Rep Sen would have no reason to believe their voters had changed position. If the red state voters had changed position Trump's approval numbers would drop.
I do not. Does not matter who's poll it is. If Trumps support is steady or increasing then red state voters have not moved to want removal. Only shows that the FOX polls are not biased.
Of course not. If they only pollee Dems the result would be that 85% want removal. I would have to see the poll to know how many Rep/Dems/Ind were sampled. And if the Dems were sampled more heavily yes rhat would tick up the removal %.
I can name one. Tennessee Senator Lamar Alexander.
(I admit I don't know who Alexander voted for President in 2016 or who he'll vote for in 2020, but given that he's a Republican it's very likely he did vote and will vote for Trump).
I do not know him personally. But even counting him. He never stated if he supported impeachment from the House. (I am sure it would have hit the news if he had) He has said he will not vote for removal. (Which is the topic) So he is not a Trump supporter who moved to favor removal.
I did not say that either. But it is a safe bet any wearing a Trump hat (Not every hat is a Make America Great Again) supports Trump and do not want him removed.
I did not move the goal post. I prevented it from being moved.

Once the Republicans dropped all pretense of permitting a balanced trial to even take place (what sort of half-a$$ed trial does not even permit testimony from witnesses?), it was a fait accompli. They were never going to convict anyway, but preventing witnesses from being subpoenaed and filibustering over documents (the transcript of the phone call was never released - a TelCon isn't even close to the same thing, being a highly abridged summary) prevented a lot of dirty laundry from being aired in an election year, a thing that may have been fatal to His Royal Orangeness's reelection chances.
