Have you ever turned down someone who was interested in you, stopped dating someone, or broken up with someone just because of the political

party to which they belonged?

Caveat: this does not mean the broad, overall spectrum of their political beliefs, it merely focuses on you not wanting to be with someone based on membership or affiliation with a particular political party.

  • Back in the day when I was dating, I didn't care about someone's political affiliations.  I didn't have any myself.
If I started dating today (something my husband frowns upon) ... it would make a difference.  Couples have enough things to argue about .. no need to add another one.

  • Never because of party - But many times I've cut off relationships because of obsessive partisan ranting and behavior.

Liberal or conservative, anyone who lets extremist politics define their entire life is not completely sane. And they're usually just lousy company too.

Absolutely not. Although I have tended to date people who see eye to eye with me naturally.
