Working for my dad and who I live and work for now.....in both cases I was the smallest person there and yet still looked up to by everyone..... It the best thing ever ,having strong links with the big boss.....lol
I bet D! My dad was a tool & die maker. No way I could ever take an interest in it. My mom was a seamstress and was a SAMPLE MAKER for a Fashion Designer who worked out of the LA Garment District. Not my cuppa tea either. Thank you for your reply and Happy Sunday to thee! :)
Did I tell you my grandfather was an artist in wood? He owned Paris Woodworks on Woodward Avenue in Highland Park Michigan and his customers were hotels. He'd make furniture to order for them and also did marquetry...inlaid wood. I LOVED going to his shop..I LOVED the smell of the wood curls on the floor. I was three and I still remember it! He would have loved having a granddaughter like you sweetie. Thank you for your reply D! :)
I'm fascinated with anyone who has any useful skills Rosie...even a man that can dig ho.es...My dad has a guy that weighs eight stone...you would not take a second look at him on a building site...no huge guys can keep up with him when he dids trenches or holes with just a pick ,shovel ,mattock or maul... be doesn't even break a sweat...such a nice guy...He digs all day and eats his sarnie's while he works...he‘ll do his eight hours straight through and then have it on his heels home early..
I had a great job...best I ever had in terms of the financial end of it, benefits, profit sharing pension and I LOVED THE WORK! There was one man with whom I got along very well until the president of the company pit us against each other unbeknownst to me. He asked me to make projections of expected sales through the end of year based on where we were. He also asked that guy to do the same. I did not know that. Turns out my projections were spot on and his weren't. He was furious for my doing that work without checking it out with him first. Now he was not my boss so why would I do that since I had no idea he has been tasked with the same thing?. I embarrassed him and he made sure to make my life miserable thereafter. I finally left. I would not have left at that time except I was sick and tired of him and so I dumped him and the company and moved on. A couple of other times I was not "in" the inner circle. I make it a point to stay removed from office politics. Not my cuppa tea. So there was a bit of a strain but nothing that got in the way of doing my job or making me feel uncomfy. I basically am a loner at work and work alone on whatever part of a project I'm given. Thank you for your reply m2c and Happy Sunday to thee! :)
I worked in large grocery stores, therefore I had a lot of coworkers (anywhere from 70 to over 200 people on the payroll). The more people one is around, the greater the chance of discord (personality conflicts). As such, no one ever fully got along with everyone (but most were civil about it).
