The History of answerMug

  • answerMug officially launched March 4, 2012. The site was originally a spin-off site created by a former member of Answerbag, known as “Wey” or “Weylon.”

This is how it looked Aug 7, 2012, when there were 107 members... probably all people from Answerbag. If you click the image, you can surf the original answerMug via the Wayback Machine.

When I joined in February 2013 there were around 200 members and the site looked like this, though the background was actually beige. I'm not sure why that isn't showing up...

Wey wanted to make some changes to the site, so we played with a lot of things.

We added the core Mug-sponsored groups, had a "Mugger of the Week" and featured member content. This is May 2014. I actually took ownership of the site in March of 2014, almost exactly two years after the site launched, but this is the first screenshot that shows some of the changes we made. By this point, the background and header looked like the image below this, but the Way Back machine isn't picking it up.

This is July of 2014. We still only had about 300 members listed, but between these updates, I cleaned out about 100 inactive/ spam accounts,

It was right around the time that EP closed (March/ April 2016) that AM got its final makeover. Somewhere in here, we hit the 1,000 mark. We're at 2,300ish today.

And now... the best is yet to come. :) Can't wait to unroll the new features for you guys!

Thanks for stopping by, guys. This obviously isn't a comprehensive history, but I got curious last night and wanted to see some of the old snapshots... like looking at a baby album. :)

Glad to be here.  I´ve enjoyed the site. It hasn´t been as easy to make friends as it was in EP, but I am patiently giving it a chance. Nice posts. Kudos to you.

Thanks, all. @ Underconstruction- Why do you feel that way? If it's a numbers thing, we just need more time to grow, but it it's related to features, maybe there is something more I can do.
