I couldn't fit it in the same window. But see what I mean?

In the minor cult classic movie Harold and Maude (1971), the death-obsessed protagonist (Harold) is given a Jaguar E-type by his (very wealthy) mother.

He converts it to a hearse.

The picture below is a reproduction of the actual movie car, but it's pretty close to the original.

I loved that movie.  I can't believe you remembered this scene!!!!

I work on a woman every Sunday nite who is Ruth Gordon's double, I swear.  She is this really cute 80 year old yoga teacher.  My job has a lot of fun clients like that.  That is one of the good things.

Now THIS hearse, I can actually want.   This post was edited by WM BARR . =ABSOLUTE TRASH at February 18, 2020 12:29 PM MST

My ex-wife was a fan of the film and we watched it on video together once.

I thought it was pretty good, certainly better than most mainstream productions.

    But you remembered that car.

There is a small story there.

I had the opportunity to drive a few examples of the BMW M-Coupe, which was a spare-time engineering exercise created by BMW engineers off of the Z3 platform, which BMW ultimately decided to produce and sell. It's an excellent driver's car: powerful, nimble, full of feedback, and yet reasonably livable in normal driving.

I forget whether I showed my ex-wife a picture or if I pointed one out in traffic. Either way, my ex said, "Oh my God! That looks like the Jaguar hearse from Harold and Maude." I'm sure that incident reinforced my recollection of the movie car.

OMG!  It totally does!  I wouldn't have noticed until you brought it to my attention.  The similarities are amazing.

I might consider it.  I'm pretty tired of putting money into the Audi.
Between the two, I'd go for Hearse.  It's probably a bunch less money, gets better gas mileage, and they handle well in snow.

You never know where someone might die versus where they are going to be buried.

Unlike people, Hearses are built to last.

I went to school with a guy who drove a hearse. He even put a casket in the back. And decorated it for Halloween.

Talk about getting attention.  As eerie as it might have been, I bet I would have dated the guy just for the meer bragging rights of having done so!
    Smart guy.
    :) :)!!

Mer, I have a 2006 KIa Rio that I have beat the heck out of.  I cannot say one bad word about that car.   It survived me with very few repairs.  But I need a new one desperately.  A hearse causes too much attention or I'd go for it in a heartbeat.  I want to be invisible when I drive.

Some years ago, the Dodge Magnum made a bit of a splash and looked a lot like this Caddy. A practical muscle car, it was kinda cool.

    But not my kinda cool.

Maybe Cadillac is looking to juice up it’s hearse market.

Does it have a Skyactiv-X engine?

    Does it get 40mpg+?

If not, I  think I'll stick to my current (Skyactiv-G) car.

All I have is my seniors bus pass but I don't think I would want to trade it in for any kind of car.

ha ha.. there are advantages having a bus -seabus - skytrain pass rather than a vehicle in my circumstances.

I am sure there are many.    It must be terrific if you can just walk out and get taken somewhere.

My experiences with busses were not fun.  I spend hours on them transferring to another one, then waiting in the cold and rain.

Forget that noise.  If they were convenient then no one would drive.  Driving sucks almost as much.

When I was working I always had a car because I needed one. Bus service is quite good where I live and lots of pretty young ladies use bus service.

    Brilliant! :)

If we all took buses we could reduce carbon emissions by 20% (cars = 30%).

We would need a far more extensive bus network - but demand could push that up very quickly.

  • At my age, I try to stay away from anything that looks like a hearse and anyone who looks like an undertaker.

Hanging around hearses don't kill ya.

Riding in hearses don't kill ya.

Getting run over by one does.
