Imagine you’re a police officer or detective, as two suspects at crime scene are led to different patrol cars to be taken to the station for

questioning in a criminal case, one of them hisses to the other through gritted teeth, “Don’t tell them ANYTHING! Just keep your mouth shut and we’ll be fine!”

What do those two statements immediately make you think?

P.S. For the sake of this scenario, and based on local jurisdictional statutes/procedures, both of them are being detained but have not been formally charged with any crime, they have been read their rights and stated that they understand them, neither of them has waived or invoked  those rights yet, neither one of them has a defense attorney.

It would make me assume they are guilty of a crime.

    Suburbanites I would assume guilty.

City kids or Streetwise they know the drill and what to do - I would give them 50-50.  They could be facing lead or silver consequences if innocent, hard time if guilty.

Lead or silver - if there is a gang in the neighborhood you rat them out you are dead = Lead.  Keep your mouth shut and you get to live = Silver
