  • My mom has always taken great comic joy in that when I used to ask for grapes I would say "rapes".

I know you meant that to be funny, but both my parents had it and it wasn't pretty.

Hopefully, they will find either a cure or a way to prevent/minimize the effects.  It really does rob a person of their humanity.

Only thing I remember being told about by my dad, was I said “kick a mouse” instead of Mickey Mouse. This post was edited by Jaimie at March 5, 2020 12:17 PM MST

I could read an encyclopaedia when I was three and could pronounce each word perfectly. Yeah, right.

You and my cousin, we were always asked why we could not be more like her.  That did really set the bar high

My cousin actually could by 3.5, she was an absolute genius who did nothing with her gift.  She was the sort with an eidedic memory who would not study a whole semester, skim the text and notes and ace every test.

She had one sister who is a Concert Grade Bassoonist who is just as smart. Can hear a pice of music and play it exactly on almost any instrument

My son earned four degrees and uses none of them. He is a 'stay-at-home' dad.

Cannot remember that far back.  Probably something in French, my family said I had the worst accent back then.  We spoke either French or German at the dinner table every day.  Parents thought we should be Multi Lingual

I don't remember, but one of my kid brothers was obsessed with trucks - somehow the "tr" sound was morphed into "f".

My brother had the same problem. I remember my mom talking about it. She said it made her feel embarrassed when he would say truck.

"Simpsons" was one. I loved the show but called it "shishmons."

Another was the Bosnian word for "cucumber," but I don't reckon anyone here will be much better at pronouncing "krastavac." For me it was just "kači."
