What do you think of this money-maker? I buy a million gallons of gasoline now and sell it when it doubles.

I only need $1.499 million dollars. Want to invest with me? We could buy AnswerMug.

    Wait a sec...
Let's calculate the costs of transport, storage, additives to prevent coagulation from bacteria present in the air (always present in containers) and delivery. Are there customs and excise duties or goods and services taxes?

Just how much profit were you hoping to make?

There is one more thing we have to take into consideration...it was a silly question. One can, however, buy crude oil futures on the commodities market. I choose not to do so.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. answerMug is not for sale. If I ever can't keep it, it'll be given to a tribunal of long-term Muggers to manage.

... Wait... did you say $1.499 million? Maybe I was a little too hasty. And, technically, that would be giving it to Muggers. Technically. Let me know when you finish fundraising, eh? ;)

I gave my heart and soul years ago. Not sure what that's worth in today's values though.

No this is a bad plan. You can’t just dump a million gallons of gasoline into any hole and just wait. As bookworm notes, the costs of storage, the maintenance and security of those storage facilities alone are enormous.

Not knowing how long it may be until you turn any profit on the original investment, assuming you ever can, while the product quality steadily deteriorates is a troubling proposition indeed. So I wouldn’t waste money on AnswerMug, either.

Why not buy half that amount and just dilute it to make it go further...:)

I have natural gas and crude oil under my land. In fact, a number of local farmers have it piped into their houses. However, they say the oil here is too dirty to refine economically and the gas requires changing filters often. Too bad. This post was edited by B.H.Wilson at April 5, 2020 10:00 AM MDT
