Have you or anyone in your family owned a car made by a defunct automaker?

My parents owned a 1966 Oldsmobile F-85, a 1969 Olds Cutlass, a 1973 Olds Cutlass Salon, and a 1978 Olds Delta 88.

    I had a '74 Olds 88 I bought in 1977. I didn't know Olds became defunct.

    (now-defunct)

I finally got you!  If the carmaker were defunct, it was not producing any cars!

Actually you didn't. Now is redundant, which makes it a needless word and is why I chose not to use it. An entity can only be defunct now, not in the past. "Now defunct" is like saying "currently" doing something.

    Nope, nope, nope, nope.

If the carmaker were previously defunct, how did it make cars?
If the carmaker is defunct, yet previously made cars, the time period during which it made cars would have had to have been when it was not defunct.

The word “now” is not redundant in this instance, because without it, a defunct carmaker making cars makes no sense.

Dig your heels in as in as much as you like, I will do the same!  Just cry Uncle and we’ll be done with this!

With me, it's motorcycles. I've had a couple of Bridgestones, BSA, MZ, Norton, plus a Ford Model A.

Until I read it here above, I wasn’t aware that Oldsmobile no longer exists. I owned an Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, and if there is a such thing as car karma, the closing down of that manufacturer is wholly appropriate for having unleashed that beast of utter vehicular hades upon me.
