Why dosen't Trump have a hearing impaired interprater at his coronavirus briefings?

I have noticed that all the World leaders (except Trump) have a hearing impaired interpreter at their coronavirus briefings.  I figure it is because Trump dosen't  want people taking their eyes off him. Cheers!

Lol, that’s so weird. I was wondering about that the other day too.

Sometimes I get a laugh when I watch our Prime Minister give a coronavirus briefing. Sometimes when they are translating from French to English it's a female voice so it sounds like he is a girly man. Cheers!

Lol yes :) Also I can’t understand why he needs two separate people translating. He’s always switching every other question  from French  to English and has a separate person doing the translating for each language. That makes no sense to me.

Is the Prime Minister fluent in both French and English?

There has not been a Prime Minister that was not fluent in both languages in my lifetime. I know there was before,  but that was a million years ago. There’s no legal requirement to speak both, but would be highly unlikely to win a Majority Gov. without seats in Quebec..and no party leader will get votes in that province  if they can’t speak French.

Ya it does get distracting but I do find a bit of comfort in his briefings. Cheers!

I never thought about it but I have never seen a US Presidential press conference with a sign language interpreter.  Perhaps they normally use close captioning.

Can you imagine such in interpreter trying to sign what Trump says considering that he can hardly form a coherent sentence and repeats himself frequently?  It would make the interpreter's head spin, not to mention the hearing impaired.

Ya I can imagine that it would be pretty funny but sad to watch. Cheers!

It's sad trying to watch Trump without being hearing impaired!

Trump probably sees the sign language people as liberal media, telling lies to the hearing impaired.

Maybe he simply can’t abide anyone speaking for him, or distracting from his limelight. Maybe both.

I’m with Spunky, Agent Orange talks in circles so often, is so incoherent, deaf folks might think the signer translating Trump’s words verbatim was either incompetent or utterly insane.
Reading transcripts of his talks is pretty revealing in this regard. This post was edited by Don Barzini at April 23, 2020 1:58 PM MDT

When Trump was looking at the building plans for one of his buildings he noticed dots by the elevator buttons and he asked  why they were there. He was told they were there for the blind and he said that they look weird  and not many blind people will be guests so get rid of them. So I figure one of the reasons Trump dosen't have a hearing inpaired interpreter is because he thinks the hearing impared and the blind are a minority and don't  have to  be catered to. Cheers!
