I have to say yes because I am the boss and the winner of the Employee  Of The Year  award 5X in a row  -  I'm  the only employee but I am  pretty proud of my self anyway. Cheers!

Nice! My boss is hilarious. He’s the COO of the company but sitting on his deck drinking during conference calls and while the rest of us talking about work he keeps  asking us who is doing laundry cos he can hear water running. I think he was a wee bit intoxicated lol. Best boss ever lol :)

Alcohol is disgusting: it ruins livers and lives.  I really don't get why anyone can stand the stuff.  It burns your stomach and makes a person feel awful.  Yuck!

Alcohol takes the edge off of worries and gets ugly people laid.

Hey ...  I resent and strongly refute your remark.....I'm not ugly and have never had a problem getting laid...Standing up again while still pissed is completly an nother issue though...:(

Can you give details of the precise logic of your refutation, please. I'd have said beer goggles are scientific fact, but, of course, they are needed in relatively few cases. Doubt if the post was aimed at yourself.

I'm exempt by default as my boss don't like drinking home alone...and as we live together, I have responsibilities two...:)

I didn’t mean you, Sugar. I’m sure you get all the affection you want.

If it becomes difficult to stand, your admirers need to carry you.

They might as well, because they could all be out of work soon anyway when the business fails.

I wouldn’t work for a drunk, and I never retained one in my employ. Too great a liability.

Lol, he’s not a drunk. He’s a successful business owner having beer on his deck on the first nice weather afternoon of the year so far while delegating to his staff. Must be a Canadian thing...

I think it is important to stress the difference between having a beer, and “drinking on the job”.
If the big guy wants to throw a cold one back, who’s to stop him?
But if he is sneaking liquor on the DL between meetings and phone calls, that’s a problem. This post was edited by Don Barzini at April 28, 2020 3:00 PM MDT

He’s not sneaking at all and told all of us having a beer on his deck while on the conference call. It just made me jealous and want to drink this afternoon too lol.

Bosses are supposed to be role models. If they drink, they should not be surprised if their subordinates follow suit.

That’s why I thought maybe it was his way of implying we should all shut it down after the call and go have a drink on our decks. No one would confirm that here in my question, so I kept working (kinda) until 5.

How would any of us know what your boss wants or expects?

I wish my boss was Bruce Springsteen, but my boss is a very wealthy guy who inherited the business from his father. The boss has done well in his father's footsteps. In fact, he buys out some of his competitors every so often. He has a mansion and a yacht. Several.

Well, Jaimie, I worked for more years than you have been alive and I learned that bosses generally want us to do what they say, not what they do.
