Canada have a lot of civilians running around with full-auto weapons, do they?

Or do they mean de-militarizing their police, and taking the military grade weapons away from them?

I don't think about Canadian law at all.  I do know that 3/4 of Canadian gun deaths are suicides.  Maybe attention needs to be placed elsewhere.

I think if they can do that, it's great, but I also know that if someone is set on carrying out a mass murder, they will find a way to get their hands on a weapon.

    Yep.
Just look at the Boston Marathon bombing ... or the Oklahoma City bombing.

Laws never have and never will stop criminals from getting weapons or whatever else they want. In fact, that's what being a criminal means.

It just means the weapons trade will go underground. Look at Prohibition/ the Volstead Act a hundred years ago; the Drug War of the last forty years. Contraband proliferated anyway, and criminals became billionaires.

I have friends in Tennessee who would just laugh that banning the guns means now Canada is ripe for invasion. Given the gun nut cults that exist in places like Montana and Idaho. not so far-fetched a fantasy.
