In general, I want all the relevant detail. Failing that, I'd like it all so I can sort it out for myself. But there are times when too much is overload - and I notice this is one of the tactics bureaucrats use to try to fob people off. When that happens, I do exactly what they don't expect; I read it with the thoroughness of an editor.
