Sorry. But I liked this site Much MUCH better before. This is so impersonal. This question page is so dull. It is so hard to interact.

Who knows where anyone is at anymore?

NOW, I know WHO I am talking to, I don't worry if the wrong person thinks I am commenting to them.
I am NOT computer savvy, but I am having fun on this site because it is easy to navigate.

...and that is no small thing in my book either.  I am very glad they fixed that.

I have seen a lot of forums put up, paid for, and managed by ONE person with NO ads. Of course they didn't offer groups and blogs and image hosting or any of the flood of stuff this site offers.

  • You're right. It was better once upon a time.

  • I agree. People say this one is easier to navigate, I think it's harder. There are too many things you have to click to get where you want to be. I don't like the profile pages. All the info should be on there without having to click several different buttons to see things. You can't delete messages and the reply box is located at the bottom of the thread making you have to scroll through everything to reply. It would be a LOT easier if the reply box was at the top. The alerts are more irritating than helpful. You have to click on them to get them to go away, or so I've been told. That doesn't always work. We should have the option to delete them. I don't see the need to click on every alert where someone has 'liked' one of my comments. When a question is answered or replied to, it all shows up on the home page, it should just show the latest comment. The way it is now just bogs down the home page in my opinion. The old Mug had a certain uniqueness and charm about it, this one is just kinda cold and clinical. I know a lot of members like this new format, but I do not.

  • The old site wasn't all that easy to navigate either though,  and the lack of a reply tracker made engaging a thread kind of a chore.

  • The My Recent Activity Button worked just fine. It was like alerts but just didn't show on the home page. It actually took you to what was being commented on too.

Your recent activity feed is still available on your profile.

  • It didn't update the whole thread though.  Just what you said, having to use email for real alerts to a thread was weird and having to keep going back to a different page entirely was wonky and a PITA.

The new system isn't perfect but it's more intuitive and efficient.   It needs a few easy to make minor tweaks instead of a complete overhaul like the old system.

If you hit Quick Reply on the top of the question you will be brought immediately to the answer box without having to scroll down yourself.

  • I'm not referring to the questions.  I don't mind scrolling and reading through the answers.  I'm talking about the private messages in your inbox. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at October 8, 2016 8:05 PM MDT

  • Yep.  You can't delete any of them and the reply box is way at the bottom.  That was not the best design.

How about we just quit whining? There are any number of sites with MUCH better this or that, but the members are terribly rude to each other. Like reddit.com for instance. They downvote you without a comment and your posting privileges are cut and you never know why. Or goldismoney.com where the software is really smooth but they have something to offend everybody. Or fluther.com where they have a gang that attacks everything you post just because they don't happen to like you. At least here the members are polite to each other.
