Some people wipe front to back. Others wipe back to front. Why?

Women are encouraged to wipe front to back, so as not to bring any errant fecal matter into the vaginal folds.

I recently bought a book called "Toilets of the World". It has photos of all the places and non-places you can empty your bowels. This is called "bathroom literature". I use it for art. Some people think it's nasty to even wipe---period. They wash themselves. Some jump in the river and do it there. That's really nasty, but you don't even have to flush or wipe. 

Wiping is personal. Different people wipe themselves the way that is more convenient or healthy for them. Location matters. Facilities matter.

Front to back Glis. Save the scrub for the tub ;)

You need to state if this has to do with men or women and if the wiping for pee or poop.  You can see from the answers that information was necessary. 

I see no reason to discuss this from a personal standpoint.  I have achieved expert status with regard to those maneuvers.
