  • Google.  Their attempts to data mine me might feel a little invasive but at the same time it makes me feel like they care.

  • Interesting.  I've never seen it with a dash. Can you provide a source for this correction?

    [It’s a hyphen, not a dash.]

The fact that you’ve never seen it before is not surprising. About 20 or 30 years ago, education began to slowly decline in its teachings concerning writing, to include punctuation.

The two-word phrase you used renders a much different meaning when the words stand alone from each other.  By hyphenating the phrase, it connects the two words and shows that they’re descriptive in nature, or more accurately, that the phrase is descriptive in nature. What you’re describing here is a process, a method of mining and what is being mined. Data is being mined, mining of data is what’s being done.

  • It's clear to me which one is the better search engine.

    Duck Duck Go's results:

    Google's results:

    I choose Duck Duck Go.

  • I stopped using Google for my searches because I hate reCAPTCHA.  I don't get reCAPTCHA when I make a simple search, but using modifiers always triggers it.  I triggered it on purpose to get that screen capture.  I did it by selecting 100 results per page instead of 10 results per page, which also always triggers reCAPTCHA.  When I stopped using Google for searches, I deleted Chrome and I began using Firefox.

DuckDuckGo should use those examples on its billboards.  I think the reCAPTCHA page annoys people a lot more than Google's lack of privacy.

Google - because it's not Microsoft Bing. Bing is one of the main reasons why Microsoft is more evil than Satan himself, the others being IE/Edge (the browser equivalent of cancer) and rank plagiarism.

Why do you consider IE/Edge evil?

I'm required to use it at work, because the company is too cheap to develop a version of SAP that works on any other platform. It crashes at least once per shift.
