When you were a child, did you ever ask your parent(s) for a sibling (or siblings)?

I did not ever ask, nor did I ever have to, either.  I am the third of five children; my elder sister precedes me by 3 years, my elder brother precedes me by 13 months, my younger brother follows me by 13 months, and my younger sister follows me by 11 years. There was another brother, but he was either stillborn or died at childbirth. His birth order would have been the fifth of six children.

Nope.  I already had one of each (groan).  Besides, when my mom had me I literally broke the “mold”.

  • Never.  Is that not an awkward question to ask your parents?

I don’t know whether or not it’s ”awkward”, as I stated above, I neither asked it nor needed to. I didn’t post this based on personal experience, I just did it out of idle curiosity.

Children ask awkward questions all the time, and there are some children who ask to have a little sister or a little brother. Perhaps they’re feeling lonely and want a playmate. I think it’s a little strange that you have never heard of the concept before.

  • I was implying that I myself never asked. Not that I've never heard of the concept.  I've seen cheesy movies with kids asking for Santa to bring them a baby brother.

Well it is a bit awkward because basically asking your parents to have sex, even if didn’t realize it when young , AWKWARD.

I do not remember asking for one. But I got 2.
I know my granddaughter asked for one...a baby sister. She had to settle for a brother.
She did get 2 step sisters but that is not quite what she meant as she did not get babies.

  • No, I don't think I ever asked them that. I may have once asked why I didn't have a brother or sister. But I was never upset with being an only child.

I already had siblings, no need to ask.

I'm the baby of the family. :)

(Uh - - wait -- you know what I mean, ha! But maybe I'm the baby in more ways than one, ha! But I know I am grateful, ever since my memories started, to have always looked up to, and admired, my older siblings.)

My youngest used being the "baby" to his advantage. I still remember him trying to get by with something saying "But I'm the baby."  The two older siblings swear it worked for him. :)

    Ha!
According to my siblings, I didn't do that. And I don't remember "consciously" trying to use it to my advantage. :)

    I don't recall my parents saying that I used my "baby-ness."  :)
