Men: Has the COVID-19 lockdown made you decide to grow your facial hair?

I'm sporting a beard that puts Kenny Rogers to shame.

      Nope.

From the time I joined the Marines at age 18, in boot camp, no facial hair is authorized. After boot camp, a mustache is the only authorized facial hair.  I spent my entire young adult years as a Marine, so with the exception of my mustache, I never had other facial hair during that whole time.

When I was a Drill Instructor, even the mustache was unauthorized, so for those two years I had to shave it off.

After leaving active duty, I had a beard at one time or another for those first years until too much Frey began to show. I have always kept the mustache, but I haven’t sported a beard, or sideburns, or a goatee in over twenty-five years.

I retired from my job within the past couple of months, coinciding with the onset of COVID. I maintain a clean shaven face with the exception of a well-trimmed mustache. COVID and its accompanying ramifications (all negative) have not influenced me toward changing my facial hair habits.

I started growing it out before COVID, a particularly nasty accident at the end of January left me without the use of my right thumb for several weeks so I couldn't handle a razor properly. By the time I was capable of shaving again, my better half decided that she liked the beard. She's the one who has to wake up next to this face, so I groom it to suit her.

Is this the first time you’ve gone with the full beard?

First time in about 20 years. Last time I grew it out, I shaved it off when the kids started calling me Jesus - I was wearing long hair at the time, too.

Since I retired 5 years ago, I only shave sporadically, so nothing has changed much.

No. The COVID-19 lockdown hasn't changed anything in the way I conduct my daily life which includes shaving. :)
