I'm sporting a beard that puts Kenny Rogers to shame.
From the time I joined the Marines at age 18, in boot camp, no facial hair is authorized. After boot camp, a mustache is the only authorized facial hair. I spent my entire young adult years as a Marine, so with the exception of my mustache, I never had other facial hair during that whole time.
When I was a Drill Instructor, even the mustache was unauthorized, so for those two years I had to shave it off.
After leaving active duty, I had a beard at one time or another for those first years until too much Frey began to show. I have always kept the mustache, but I haven’t sported a beard, or sideburns, or a goatee in over twenty-five years.
I retired from my job within the past couple of months, coinciding with the onset of COVID. I maintain a clean shaven face with the exception of a well-trimmed mustache. COVID and its accompanying ramifications (all negative) have not influenced me toward changing my facial hair habits.

Is this the first time you’ve gone with the full beard?

The kids as in your students?
