AnswerMug Challenge Series, Word Play Edition #7:

Step 1. Start with any word that is NOT a food or a food item, write it down first.

Step 2. Without changing the sequence of its letters, add two more letters either to the front of the word or to the back of the word, forming a word that IS a food or a food item.

Examples:

 Bee + ts = beets

 Nana + ba = banana

It’s not the first edition, which is why I didn’t label it that way.

All very good with the exception of “app”. It is an abbreviation.

It was Randy (I am guessing the 'D' in Randy D is an abbreviation you are using there. But 'app' it has entered into common usage as a term in its own right, so I am quite happy to use it. For one thing, it is considered a word by online Wordweb. 'Gym' and 'phone' are also typical of abbreviation words now considered words in their own right. How many people even realize they are using abbreviations when they say 'car' or 'bus'. Is it possible some people using 'app' now don't even have it cross their mind they are using an abbreviation of application? Times change, and we must change with them. We must agree to differ. I can on my part, I am a very agreeable kind of guy. This post was edited by Nyse Elias at August 26, 2020 5:29 PM MDT

You’ve made some good points, especially with the examples you’ve presented.  Thanks!
