Does Pandora’s Box truly fit the category?  It’s not unknown as to why the name is used.

I didn’t “accept” it; I merely didn’t mention it at all.  I’ve never heard it before, nor heard of it before, so I left it alone. As far as it’s supposed to be a humorous take on “the roof is leaking”, well, I hope the day job is still viable.

In my opinion, it is not used for 'no apparent reason'. It is used to describe a person who acts like the title character.

Uncle Tom, Pandora, Rufus and Kilroy don't count.
Uncle Tom and Pandora have known reasons, Rufus is a pun (noted and appreciated) and Kilroy is not a given name but a surname - America's WW2 answer to the Australian "FOO was here" from WW1. FOO popped up at just about every single AIF camp or outpost - may have been referencing "Foward Observation Officer" but this is uncertain.
