      It depends: was it the medical diagnosis, is the doctor superstitious, was it merely idle conversation, etc.?

    Medical speculation, I suppose. About a new baby with small ears and potential "irregularities" that might go with it. I do think there is medical literature considering certain genetic abnormalities.
