I have a Minnesota accent, but I'm completely tone deaf to it so I have no idea what it sounds like to other people. I can only pick out other people's accents if they're really obvious ones, like southern accents or northeastern accents.
I'm pretty tone deaf to accents, so I really can't tell the difference, but my husband says that only northeastern South Dakota and eastern North Dakota are the parts of the Dakotas that have the upper Midwestern accent. He says people in the western Dakotas sound like people from western states, but I still don't hear the difference.
Umm, yeah, people tell me I sound like Fargo characters, but it makes sense because Fargo's not that far away. It would only take me about 2 hours and 15 minutes to drive there.
