Can you say the alphabet backwards without having it written down in front of you? I can’t, I get stuck at Y.

Haha, you can do both for sure. I took this advice from a TV show as a child: it's easier to memorise a sequence or pattern when you divide it into sections. So instead of 26 disparate elements, you get a handful of combinations. For example, "S - R - Q - P," which just proved to be my stumbling block a few times.

... But I'm not going to try the Russian tebahpla tonight.

I think if I need to make up patterns for backwards alphabet that you should be working on Russian tebahpla. It’s only fair.

I remember as a kid my Grandma did it and challenged me to see if I could. I couldn't then but I made myself learn. So I could make Grandma proud. :)

I have to share my office for the next month or so because our front building is closed due to covid with a new employee and he’s a complete douche bag and I hate his guts. He’s loud and obnoxious and I told my boss I’m gonna lose my shizzat on him by the end of week. My boss told me that when I feel like I’m starting to lose my temper to say the alphabet backwards in my head and that will calm me down. I CANT do that so that aggravated me even more today.  Didn’t calm me down at all.  

Maybe count back from 100?
