It's a tricky business except if you ARE by some awful means able to cut a Klingon in half. Then it is quite an easy matter to date the creature by simply counting the rings.
True. If we were to ever discover a planet supporting silicon-based life forms, then if we wanted to explore and examine their progenitor lines, it couldn't be by carbon 14, so we'd have to go back to the drawing board. Damn, just when you think you're on top of things.
