Poll: The last time that you borrowed someone’s* vehicle for a few hours or less, what was the reason you were not driving your own vehicle?

*A privately-owned vehicle, not a company vehicle, fleet vehicle, rental vehicle, leased vehicle, etc.

A. I do not drive, so this doesn’t apply to me.

A1. I have never borrowed anyone else’s vehicle for just a few hours or less.

A2. I have never borrowed anyone else’s vehicle at all.

B. Nice try, Randolph D, but you’re not getting your car back from me, no matter how much you put me on blast all over the internet. Grrrrrrrr.

C. My car was being repaired, and I didn’t want to use the shop’s loaner option.

C1. My car was being repaired, and it took longer than expected, I needed to get some things done or go somewhere.

D. The size, type, or hauling capacity was better than my own vehicle.

E. I was in a different city away from home and just borrowed a vehicle because I needed simple transportation for a short while.

F. I was covering my tracks for a “job” that needed to get done. If the cops ask you anything about it, you never heard from me.

G. All those danged tildes aren’t going to drive themselves to the city dump!

H. Two or more of the above.

H1. None of the above/other answer.

I do not own a car, so I "borrowed" (rented by the hour) from Zipcar.

Actually I don't have a car these days, but Ari has two. He lets me borrow which ever best suits the purpose.

I've never borrowed or driven anyone else's car.

EDIT:  I have, however, driven rental cars. This post was edited by SpunkySenior at December 8, 2020 2:53 PM MST

Actually, it's A1 and E, except when I was in a fender bender and my car was being repairs, but I was in the same city. This post was edited by SpunkySenior at December 8, 2020 2:37 PM MST

H1. My daughter bought a SUV. Its tires were drivable but would need replaced within 6 months.  We asked to borrow it for a couple of hours because we were thinking of maybe getting a similar SUV for ourselves.  We took it and had the new tires put on it. Brought it back and did not tell her anything.
We a couple weeks later at her birthday party after cake and opening presents, we told her she had one more present but it was outside. She was surprised... This post was edited by my2cents at December 8, 2020 2:37 PM MST

H1 - I was shaking mice-chewed acorn debris out of the engine compartment.  Hard, sharp turns helps to jar any debris that may have fallen onto the undercarriage.

It's been years ago but mine was in the shop and I kept a family member's truck until I got my car back.

Was it a few hours or less that you had your family member’s truck?
