And where did the name come from? Was there a famous Dayton of whom I am not aware?

I used to drive up to Michigan regularly to see my daughter. As I got onto an interstate in one direction, I would have gone to Dayton if I went the other direction. I don't remember the highway name. And I thought I should have made time to go there I was so close. Same thing for Notre Dame/South Bend. I had been to the university before but I was so close when I changed roads that I kept saying to myself to drive on into South Bend next visit. I didn't and I don't go up there anymore.
