To shut off all lights. (when the power comes back on, the surge can blow the bulbs and/or damage the ballasts).

Oh no, the insulated, pressurized and temperature-controlled Tilde Vaults! Oh, wait . . . they all have built-in emergency generator systems. I panicked for nothing, what could I have been thinking? (Whew!)

Shut the electrical switches.  After that, I don't worry about anything.

We just don't have them here; the exception (since I've lived here 2014) was Hurricane Irma.  The power was out for hours, not days.  I wasn't here. I evacuated to the other side of the state for several days.  My biggest concern would be the heat...most of the year it is unbearably hot outside.  If there was no air conditioning I would make my way to where I could have AC.  This is one reason to keep gas tanks topped off.  And my sister has a generator that will run a window unit AC in the LR/kitchen.  That is a lifesaver.  I could walk to her house if I had to unless the bridges were gone.
