Discussion»Questions»Math» If US Mint decided to make 1 1/2 cent, 13 cent, 28cent and 64 cent coins, you think would help increase people's math calculating skills?
Not likely. Some go out of their way to avoid any kind of math. And don't give our mint any ideas. They once coined 1/2 cent, 2 cent, 3 cent and 20 cent coins.
Are you kidding? This is a lazy country. They want to get rid of all coinage just so they won't have to do math. 98% of cashiers can't even make change for $1. It's not hard, but they don't want to be bothered to learn (it may mean putting down their phone for more than 1 minute). To make even one coin "odd", would bring the country to a dead halt. Everyone would be stuck in line at a fast food place as the cashier looked blankly at the coin, or waited for the customer to slide it through the credit/debit machine.
