    Sure. It works in both directions. 

    I think as long as the person is capable of doing the job age should not matter.  (With few exceptions)

    The latest stats suggest we're middle aged till we're 80: in theory that's when to retire assuming your health is up to it.

    I was retired at 58, a decision my pension fund may regret. I've probably had as much pension as salary.
