Took a round trip on one type of transport to the destination and a completely different type to return, or been stranded at an airport?

Of the two activities shown above, which one have you done more times in your life?

I have walked to a place and then gotten a ride home and vice versa.

I have never been stuck at an airport.

A few years ago I got stranded at Travis Air Force Base in Northern California for 5 days trying to catch a standby flight.  :(

I took a train home to Portage La Prairie Manitoba on leave from my ship in Halifax and blew all my funds partying then had to hitch hike back.

I took a flight up to Buffalo, NY to meet a friend and then the two of us took Amtrak back to New York City.

Yes, we flew to Miami then Bahamas then back to Miami and from there took Amtrak back home.  Wonderful trip.  I've been to the Bahamas quite a few times but that was the only trip that we incorporated the train trip.  It was fun; we had a room with a bed and bathroom.

I've been stranded a few times.  I always found people to hang with and have an adventure, except the time it was Atlanta and that time  I rented a car one-way and drove home.  I was stranded by the airport shuttle which left before my flight landed (ahead of schedule).  I didn't care what the car cost because I knew the shuttle company was going to pay for it......and then some.  I was furious! • I've been stranded at airports or hotels near the airports more.  I usually get stranded at the airport in June, July or August in southern Argentina.

Note to self: cancel the plans for that trip to Buenos Aries next summer.

  • Is that your summer or my summer?  Buenos Aires (the city) is too far north and too close to the ocean for winter weather.  The last snowstorms here were in 2007 and in 1918.  The temperature in the City of Buenos Aires can be below freezing at night from April through October, but for most winter days it's fine to wear a light jacket.
