Such poetic PROFUNDITY from the republican lips of senaturr mike lee. "Written in He** by the devil himself!" To what doth he refer prithee?

The $1.9 trillion dollar COVID 19 relief package going to the "little people".

Did he say diddly when that grotesque amount was gifted to the obscenely wealthy several years ago in the form of tax cuts? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Of course not.

Whattan arse a** jack he is.

This bill is not going to the little people.

Only 9% of the bill is actual Covid releif most is bailouts for states. And pork.

States are receiving funds to help them for expenditures due to the Covid pandemic.  In what way do you not think this helps the little guy?  I bet you think Trump's tax decreases helped the little guy rather than the 1% of people and corporations that needed it the least.

There is over $100M in for a subway/rail project in CA and to build a bridge in NY. That is not COVID relief.

"All told, this generous definition of Covid-related provisions tallies some $825 billion. The rest of the bill—more than $1 trillion—is a combination of bailouts for Democratic constituencies, expansions of progressive programs, pork, and unrelated policy changes."

I know Trump tax cuts helped me.  And I ain't no 1%er.  And Yes I will be getting my $2800.

I suppose when the GOP gives pork to the red states, that's OK, but when it's the blue states, it's no good.  I owed twice as much in taxes under Trump's tax plan than I did in all the years I've been working.  If you're so opposed to this stimulus, I think you should refuse that $2800 and the money you received last time.  Talk about hypocrisy.  And, no, I was not and am not eligible for the stimulus checks.

And, by the way, most of the red states are the welfare states that get back more from the feds than they put in.  NY gets back $.91 for every dollar we send Washington, so please don't tell me how UNFAIR it is that we get a little something something for being the givers all these many years. The point is...the less than half of the bill was covid relief even with the most generous covid relief definitions.

I am not griping about the debt....neither party cares.   I am simply correcting the false claim that Biden's bill is going to the "little people."

We already discussed your taxes...you took payments that did not hold out taxes. So naturally you had to pay in at the end of the year.

I know you make more money than I do. (You have posted before that you do not qualify for the covid relief) My taxes went down if your's went up then....are you sure taxes cuts only went to the wealthy?

It works out that many of the southern states get more from feds because the old folks go to warmer states to retire and their SS and Medicare/aid goes with them.

In what way is providing work for those made unemployed by the pandemic not relief? Public works was one of the prime platforms of Roosevelt's "New Deal" that pulled America out of the depths of the Great Depression in the 1930s, and better than a simple handout as there is something to show for it.

Ok. Then build the wall it will also create jobs.

    Spin....pork is pork.

If they wanted to use infrastructure as job creation for covid...they were not smart enough to spread it out more and use it as that. They failed.

Subways and bridges provide tangible benefits, the wall was a pointless monument to the ego of Dolt 45. Far more illegals come in by air, perfectly legally, then outstay their visas.

The wall does work. So does the illegals knowing the President will enforce the laws. As evidenced by the current increase in the border crossing right now.  Underaged children again.  But don't worry Biden has storage containers for them. Solid walls so no one can see.

But that is not the stated purpose of this relief bill.   It is mostly pork.  And not going to the "little guy." This post was edited by my2cents at March 13, 2021 8:27 AM MST

Southern states are not the only red states.  I don't know of any large group of retirees who are retiring to Alaska, Montana, the Dakotas, etc.  SS/Medicare are the same no matter what state you live in.  Here's a comparison of how Trump's stimulus was used vs. Biden's.  Do you really think Trump gave a rat's tail about the little guy?

Apples to Oranges...one is a tax plan. One is a Covid bill.

As I said MY taxes where cut. You say yours were not.  We know you make more money than I do....

Of course when you deal with tax %...and convert it to dollars. The rich person will get more dollars.  Almost 1/2 of the country pays $0 in Fed income tax.  You cannot cut that anymore. You can give them more in earned income credit. But that is not ever considered an income tax cut. It is an increased credit.

So when/if Biden instroduces a tax plan then you can compare that plan to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

Not apples and oranges.  Both bills were/are intended to help people.  The difference is that Trump's tax bill helped those who needed it the least and Biden's Covid bill is intended to help those who need it the most.

Do you not think it is absolutely outrageous that Trump, who claims to be a billionaire, paid no taxes for a decade and when he finally did, it was $750?  And he had the audacity to be proud of that fact.  Well, now we are about to see whether he defrauded the government by what he did.  I hope he loses every penny he claims he has and winds up destitute and living out of a cardboard box, digging in garbage cans for food.

As far as SS/Medicard etc yes it is the same per person. But if a person makes their money in NY.  They pay in all those working years to the Fed.  Then they retire to FL. When they retire and start getting their SS/Medicare etc it goes into FL not back to NY.  Hence why FL gets more money from the Feds.

You may want to rethink that answer.  If they take their money and spend it in FL why would FL need more federal funds?  It's NY that is not getting the benefit of their spending.

    You may want to re-read.

The money an older person recieves (SS/Medicard/caid) moves with them. FL has more older people than NY. (Many are former NYers) FL has more people total for that matter.

Let me break it down easier.
If 100 NYers work their entire career in NY. They are paying in to Fed gov every year.  Then they retire and sign up for their SS/Medicare etc and MOVE to FL.  As FL residents they paid NOTHING in. Only recieved money from the Fed in FL.
This happens a lot.  And this is why FL recieves more money than NY. Again this is happening all the time.

Happens enough that there was talk of NY trying to figure a way to continue to tax those former NYers after they moved to FL.  This post was edited by my2cents at March 19, 2021 6:59 AM MDT

I'm supposed to pay FL because they're too dumb to have a state tax?

You are not understanding.  You are not paying FL anything.  The Feds are paying FL more because the people retired to FL. They have more people general and retirement age. The retirement age get their SS/Medicare in FL because they live their now. The money follows the retired person.

FL budget is balanced even them being. "stupid and not having an income tax."

NY is the one trying to figure out how to continue taxing people after they move.

Are you for real?  Where do you think the feds get the money to pay FL????????  The amount of money people get on SS/Medicare is the same whether they live in NY or FL.  The people who retire to FL spend their money in FL.  Florida has a sales tax.  When more people spend money in FL, the state collects more sales tax.  FL apparently doesn't need to have an income tax because they get more money from the other states, i.e., the feds.

    1. No the amount of SS is NOT the same per person.  Some people get as little as approx $800/month others get over $2000/month.
    2. There is MORE people of retirement age in FL than NY. (More people in general as well)
    3. Many of those retired people came from NY where they paid in to the Fed. Then moved to FL where instead of paying in they RECIEVE their SS/Medicare etc.  So yes FL gets that money that was paid in while in NY.

Perhaps NY should think about a tax system that would make people want to retire there.

SS and Medicare payments are calculated by what you earned over your best 10 years, I believe.  It is not calculated by where you live.  If you lived in NY, you probably earned more over your working years than you would have if you lived in most Southern states, ergo, your SS/Medicare benefits would be higher.  Now, you move to FL with your NY-sized benefits and you have more to spend because the cost of living IN FL is less than in NY.  So, tell me again, how FL has to pay more to retirees.

People who only get $800 on SS were low earners and paid less into SS over their working years.  People who get $2,000 a month earned more over their working years and paid more into SS.  What you seem to be saying is that the wealthier states should pay more to make up for what the less wealthy people didn't earn.  I believe they call that SOCIALISM, something to which I believe you are adamantly opposed.
