I'm wondering which singer to whom you're referring  -- Element 99's answer  Petula Clark or maybe some else.

Patsy Cline, of course. I thought I was replying to you. But my favorite song of hers is probably "Faded Love'.

    Cool, thanks. :)
On my computer, your comment to me looks like a separate answer.
That's happened to me before -- I post as a reply to someone and it posts as a separate answer.

I like "Faded Love," too.   :)

Amira Willighagen. A maidchild with the voice of an angel.

She's almost all grown up now. Coaching has given her the breath control to support her contralto register (without losing the coloratura top), cleaned up her diction, smoothed the phrasing - without marring the guileless purity of her voice.

Yes, they're all good to me!  :)

But not so good as Patsy.

    What does she coach? Rugby?

She has BEEN coached - as a nine-year-old she'd had no training whatsoever, so the diction was muddy (Dutch accented Italian is ghastly), breathing all over the place and phrasing stilted. Perfectly understandable, she was "playing by ear" so to speak and the ethereal beauty of the voice was so glorious that none of that mattered.
Now she's even better. Thankfully, Dutch law limits the number of appearances she can make per year before the age of 17 and kept her in school. Burnout is the curse of prodigies.
