More likely make it worse. The sebum needs to get OUT. Sealing it (petroleum jelly doesn't "breathe") clogs the pores. Don't squeeze it, either - that can force as much bacteria under the skin as over it, so it will only pop up again adjacent to the original blemish. Exfoliate instead - often.
