What do you think about the Ohio vaccine lottery?

5  people in Ohio  will have a chance to win a million dollars each  - all they have to do to enter is get  the vaccine. I think it will  encourage a lot of people to get the vaccine and Ohio will be the first State to reach heard inmuinity. Cheers and happy weekend!

It's not fair.  I've already had my vaccine.  I should be entered in the lottery anyway. But yes, to answer your question.  It should help encourage people to get vaccinated.

You probaby have a better chance at wining the viris lottory compared to the State lotto because there won't be as many people entered in the draw - I figure you might have a five in 10.000 chance of winning. Cheers and  happy weekend!

It’s a great idea.  New Jersey gives out coupons for free beer for those 21 and older who get their COVID shots.  I’m thinking if they took it a little bit further and suspended the minimum drinking age (which is ridiculously high anyway) for people getting their COVID shots, they could easily get 100% of 18 to 20 year olds fully vaccinated.  Of course, to do so would be slaughtering a sacred cow in American politics.

      (to too)

Use too as a synonym for the word  “also”, or to indicate excessiveness before a verb. Usually, if you can replace too with also in the same sentence, and it still makes sense, then you are using it correctly.

    Examples

"I am going to the mall, too."

"I had too many tacos for lunch."

I do not like tax dollars being used that way....but they waste it on many other things as well.

Many states are likely already at herd immunity.   According to the CDC, US had approx 114.6 Million cases  and 582 M deaths...so (114.6 -.582= 114M) So that leaves 1140M people with natural immunity.

There are 156 Million who have had at least one shot.   (114M + 156M= 270 Million people)

270 M people in USA have immunity.

There are 332M people in the USA.  (270/332= .8132)

The USA has 81.32% of people with immunity.....

    80% is herd immunity.

Last time I checked 81.32 is larger than 80.

USA currently has herd immunity...... This post was edited by my2cents at May 16, 2021 10:20 AM MDT

I was thinking  about the tax thing and figure maybe it will save money in the long run because people won't get  sick or miss work because they are sick. Cheers

The question was about Ohio. Only 37% have been vaccinated.

I know that.  And OH is using Covid tax money.

Oh is at 42% at least one shot (4.998M)
Over 1M confirmed cases...so using the CDC estimate of 3.5 M cases.
So roughly 8.5M of your 11.7M population is immune. (Natural or vax) this amounts to 72.6% immunity.

At one point Fauci said 70% was herd immunity....before he moved the goal post to 80%
