You do realise that diamonds are as common as muck, right? If De Beers wasn't stockpiling them to artificially inflate the price, you could wear several carats for a few bucks.
I do realize that, but I still like them best - not because they're rare, but because I love the look of them. It's been a long while since I wore more than earrings and my watch.
I recently saw Benitoite and thought it to be the prettiest gemstone I'd ever seen. I don't wear jewelry nor care to have expensive stones. My husband insisted and would not believe I cared so little. Anyway, a friend from back home just got a Benitoite ring for her 50th Anniversary and it is breathtaking. I don't have a favorite so to speak. I looked this up and the retail cost is $4500 per carat. I don't know how that compares to others.
