Do you know anyone who owns more than one personal home?

For example, a summer house, a main house, and another just because.

A friend in Maine owns a home on the bay near Harpswell during the summer and one inland for the winter.

Does he sell it after the summer and buy it back before the next summer?

If a houseboat counts  then yes I do - they live  on the boat 3 or 4 months a year. Cheers!

Having a houseboat on a lake would be fun I think.  A houseboat with an additional small boat available.

  • Yes. My parents own their home in Sacramento (the one I grew up in) and a vacation home at Lake Tahoe.

I hope the fire missed their home in Tahoe.

Yes. I know many immigrants to the United States and many naturalized US citizens who are all from countries that are less affluent than this one. Some of them have been able to buy homes in their countries of origin due to the higher standard of living here coupled with the wider range of opportunities that allowed them the financial ability to afford real estate in both countries.

Americans could use lessons from immigrants.  Their hard work, ability to pool resources to buy a home is something to admire and emulate.

Mind you, I’m not referring to all the immigrants I know, just a few of them. I think that lumping large percentages of immigrants into one category as if they’re all great and glorious is just as short-sided as lumping large percentages of American citizens into one category as if we’re all lazy and uninspired.

Yes, on a Greek island, (main home in England); and it has become a burden proving very hard to sell.

My friend and her late husband bought it decades ago for holidays. They used it annually and made quite a few local friends; but she is now trying to sell it.

I've come to the realization that I will never know or be friends with anyone in that kind of tax bracket.

Even though homeowners, including those who own more than one home, are found in more than one tax bracket? It’s not just the filthy rich or obscenely wealthy who own multiple homes, one example is the kind of people found in my answer above. A modest home without a lot of fanciness or frills in one of each country.
