One of my neighbors smokes but I'm not bothered at all by it.   I rarely indoors with them; we usually just talk on the terrace or out back.  Several people in this community smoke.

Moved upwind. Both of my adult children are smokers.

I reacted by putting it out. I was the one smoking.

Not a lot of people smoke outside in my development.  There are one or two who sit outside on the benches and if the wind is blowing my way, I can smell the smoke, but I just close my window until the person is finished.

Is that within an arm’s distance of you?

People generally smoke within an arm's length of themselves.

My question specifically addresses when another person is committing the action.

I was at a bus stop maybe 3 months ago and some dude lit up and all I did was move away in disgust. However, when I did that some other person lit up but she was 3 arm's length away. So, I was sort of trapped. This post was edited by Zack at December 19, 2021 3:08 PM MST
