If genetic modification were developed to enable humans to see in darkness, would that eliminate all need for artificial lighting?

How could we adapt; not being able to find a nice quiet dark place to ...'do things'?

    We would still want to put up Christmas lights. As for adapting, we could just close (or cover) our eyes.
