    I was there for a few days to attend the Bar Mitzvah of a cousin.  We went to the Zoo, took a boat ride along Lakeshore Drive and visited the Botanic Gardens.

      I’ve had the exact same thing happen before; the graphic I posted in the description field is the main focus and the text I wrote is a mere set up that points to the graphic, yet the people who respond concentrate on the words only and make no mention whatsoever of the visual. (Sigh.)

      I get it. Chicago being one of the most violent cities in America with daily incidents of firearms use by criminals, the picture shows that even an innocuous object such as a school bus is not even immune to being targeted.

    Sigh. Perhaps if the words were a better set up for the graphic, those of us with less than genius-level intelligence could grasp the concept. For example, 'have you survived a trip to Chicago ' might have been a better clue. This is especially true since Chicago is far from the most dangerous city in the US. In 2022 it doesn't even make the top 10. Minneapolis and Chicago rank about the same for crime and I have never heard of a bullet-riddled school bus.

    It was a satirical question.
    Toledo murder rate last year was higher than Chicago's and slightly lower the Philly. Two days ago we had two murders in 24 hours and another injury shooting.

    I have not heard Chicago referred to as Chiraq. If I didn't know better, I would think that it's an ethnic or religious slur regarding the Muslim or Persian population in Chicago. Isn't that sort of thing forbidden here, as it would be viewed as offensive to a Muslim/Persian Chicagoan?

    It was the name of a movie by Spice Lee about the gang violence in Chicago.  It number of murders that year were about the same number of soldiers killed in Iraq.

    I see. Thank you for the clarification. 

    While I know there are efforts to protect children from turning to gangs and violence, it's just not enough. When one grows up in deplorable conditions, it's very difficult to see another way of life as attainable.
